Step by Step (In Production)
Brought up in a children's home, Mark Elie was saved by ballet as a child. His passion for dance led him to open The Portobello Dance School in 1994 where he gave mainly disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience dance. Over the course of ten years, Mark has focused primarily on training three star pupils – Kym, Joelle and Effie – in the hopes that they will succeed in being among the first classically trained black women to make it into the world’s top ballet companies.
Filmed over ten years, 'Step by Step' charts Mark’s journey running the Portobello Dance School. It follows the progress of Kym, Effie and Joelle from girlhood to womanhood as they strive to become professional dancers.
